The community justice partnership in South Lanarkshire is hosting:

15th November 2017 – 9.30 to 3.30

Banqueting Hall, South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters, Almada Street

Hamilton, ML3 0AA

The conference aims to bring together our faith and belief groups with those engaged with delivering support services to people in our local areas with a view to identifying how we can best support people in need to lead happy and fulfilled lives.  The Faith and Belief groups in our area have a long history of supporting innovative approaches that have positively influenced the outcomes for many vulnerable people including:

·   Suicide prevention activities – See Me pledges to end discrimination against people who experience mental health issues

·   Tackling poverty – food banks and funeral poverty (to name but a few)

·   Supports for people with dementia

It is hoped that this conference will bring the same level of activity to supporting people to end offending or to never be involved.

The conference will share information on Community Justice Scotland and how the local partnership operates.  The conference is supported by the NHS chaplains and we hope that some of our prison chaplaincy will also be in attendance; the timing of the conference has been set with the intention of supporting prisoners week activities.  We are fortunate to have David McAdam Connect to Community – Reintegration Coordinator with Bethany Christian Trust who will explain his role and how he can support our faith and belief groups to assist people returning to our area from prison.

The key groups that will be targeted for consideration are:

·   Youth engagement to prevent offending

·   Helping women who are affected by the criminal justice system

·   Supporting victims of crime

·   People returning to our area from prison
