The U3A is an Organisation for retired and semi-retired people. Lanark and District U3A is about to begin its 4th year  and the membership has grown to 160, many of whom live in Carluke. Monthly meetings with a speaker are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (the only exception is the October which is on Wdnesday 8th October). The first meeting of the new session will be on Wednesday 17th September at 2.00pm in the Memorial all, Lanark, when the speaker will be from Whitmuir Organics with a talk on “Farming the Organic Way”.

As well as the monthly meetings there are 26 interest groups which are run by the members. These include Theatre, Outings, Lunch, Walking, Gardening, Italian, Table Tennis, Scrabble, Art and Poetry Appreciation and more and nearly all are held during the day. If you are interested in finding out more you can come along to any monthly meeting without any obligation to join or visit the website – www.u3asitees.org.uk/lanark
